What's a Lifestyle Screen ?

A Lifestyle Screen is a motorized, retractable mesh screen installed across your garage opening. Press a button, the screen lowers in 30 seconds. Press it again, the screen retracts up into a slim housing tucked above the door — completely out of view.

It is not a garage door. It is not a glass garage door. Your existing garage door stays exactly where it is — the screen mounts in front of the opening and works alongside the door. Both can be open or closed independently.

The use case is straightforward: when the garage door is up and you want airflow without bugs, dust, or wandering pets, the screen turns the space into a covered, ventilated outdoor room. Workshop, lounge, kids' play area, Chicagoland summer hangout. Most installs wrap in a single day and integrate with your existing opener.

Why People Install Them

What you can do with one .

Outdoor entertaining

Open the garage on a summer evening, screen down, party on. Bugs out, breeze in, no spilled drinks on the carpet.

Bug-free workshop

DIY all summer with the door up and the screen down. Mosquitos and gnats stay outside; tools and dust stay inside.

Kid + pet-safe space

Fresh air without the runaway risk. Reinforced mesh stops curious dogs and toddlers from wandering off.

Cool-down zone

Garage hits 110° in July. Open it up with the screen down, vent the heat, and keep the wildlife and dust where they belong.

Common Questions

Before you book .

Does the screen replace my garage door?
No — you still have your garage door for security and weather. The screen is a separate motorized system that pulls down across the same opening when you want airflow without bugs. Door and screen operate independently.
Can it handle Chicagoland wind and storms?
Yes. The screens are wind-rated and the system retracts to its housing in seconds — most homeowners pull it up before a storm. Manufacturers also offer reinforced wind-resistant variants if you face frequent gusts.
Will my kids or pets damage it?
The mesh is reinforced and holds up to normal contact, but it's not invincible — we recommend not letting pets hurl themselves at it. Replacement mesh inserts are available if a hole ever happens.
How does it integrate with my opener?
Most modern openers (LiftMaster, Genie, Chamberlain) can run both door and screen from the same wall control or remote. Older units may need an upgrade — we confirm during the in-home measure.
What about insects coming in around the edges?
The screen seals along magnetic side rails and a brush-bottom that contacts the floor. Sealing is tight enough for normal mosquitos and flies; gaps from uneven concrete can be addressed during install.
Year-round, or seasonal use?
Most homeowners use it heavily Spring–Fall and retract it for winter. The system itself is fine in cold weather; it just gets less use when the garage is closed up.
