Qualifying installs get 0% interest financing — easy monthly payments instead of a single big invoice. We walk you through the application during your estimate.

Common Questions

Before you order .

How long does a garage door installation take?
Most single and double-car residential installs are done in 4–6 hours, including removing the old door. Custom doors, double-thick insulated panels, or unusual openings can extend that to a full day. We confirm the timeline at your in-home estimate so there are no surprises.
Do you remove and dispose of my old garage door?
Yes — included in every install. We remove the old door, tracks, hardware, and opener (if you're replacing it) and haul everything away for recycling and disposal. You come home to a finished install, not a pile of scrap.
Steel, wood, or aluminum — which is best for Chicagoland weather?
Insulated steel is our most-recommended choice for Chicagoland — it handles freeze-thaw cycles, doesn't warp, and you can get any style or color. Real wood looks beautiful but needs maintenance against ice and salt. Aluminum & glass is great for modern homes but is a poor insulator on its own. We walk you through the trade-offs in your home, not over the phone.
Insulated or uninsulated — does it matter?
If your garage is attached to your house, share a wall with a finished room, or you use it as a workshop or gym — yes, insulation matters a lot. Insulated doors keep your house warmer (and quieter) and can pay back the upcharge in a few winters. If it's a detached garage you only park in, uninsulated is fine.
Will a new door work with my existing garage door opener?
Usually yes — most modern openers are compatible across brands. Two exceptions: very old openers (15+ years) sometimes can't handle the weight of a new insulated door, and some smart openers need a specific door tracker. We test the opener at the estimate and tell you up front if it needs upgrading.
Do you handle HOA approval?
We can't submit on your behalf, but we can give you everything your HOA architectural committee asks for — manufacturer spec sheets, color samples, swatches, and a digital rendering of the proposed door on your home. Most approvals are routine once you have those.
Can I see what the door will look like on my home before I buy?
Yes. We render your top choices on a photo of your actual house so you see exactly how the panel design, window pattern, and color play against your brick, siding, and trim. It's the easiest way to decide between two finalists without guessing.
How long is the warranty on a new garage door?
Manufacturer warranties run 1 year to lifetime depending on the door — Clopay's premium doors carry lifetime warranties on the panels and finish. On top of that, we back our installation labor with a workmanship guarantee. We document both in writing on the day of install.
